AltaRoma, Sylvio Giardina FW 2017-18

Seven years after the foundation of the brand which achieved success with the creation of a prêt-à-porter and a jewelry line, Sylvio Giardina returns to his first passion, Haute Couture, to present his new project "HC # 01” on the catwalks of this new edition of AltaRoma.

For the Fall/Winter 2017-18 Sylvio Giardina draws inspiration from the immense, unknown world of insects, which fascinates him with the strangest shapes and boldest colors. The fabrics of the collection have been specially designed by the designer and made with precious thread embroidery which includes geometric shapes inspired by Art Déco in black and white, as well as chiné effects on silk satin which emulate the shades of butterfly wings.

Delicate thread embroidery creates unusual patterns that imitate knitwear. The duchesse combined with light padding and then embroidered creates sculptural effects which outline the wings of imaginary insects on necklines and capes.

With the support of experienced craftsmen and hands, the designed dress will have to be transformed from an idea into a masterpiece. Its construction begins with the realization of a tulle bust which represents the base and the fundamental element of a Haute Couture dress. The bust supports the handpainted velvet, the thread embroidered lace with satin inlays or light two color pleated drapery. The jewel is an integral part of the dress: brass wires gilded and decorated with black and white pearls embellish the velvet necklines.
