Milano fashion week, Alain Tondowski s/s 2018 collection

The pyramidal heel of the “ICON” sandal is presented this season with the new Circle heel. A perfect demi-circle 7 cm in height, inspired by the modernist shapes and volumes of the Bauhaus movement. All in chrome finish like the body of a car, or lacquered black or white for an effect that is both primary and sophisticated. Easy-to-wear mules donning braided leather with a checkered motif (a nod to the clichés of the 1950s of Jacques Tati), wild, neo-couture feathers or leather braids and metal eyelets.Metal, leather, braids, feathers, the collection mixes the diverse forms of savoir-faire and noble materials, translated for this collection by an elaborate Manufacture that dares to integrate touches of vinyl, metal rings, braids of PVC and Raffia. Touches of the 60s that express themselves via “new” materials and technics elaborated on by emblematic couturiers of this epoch, like Paco Rabanne and Pierre Cardin, yet always in a “footwear” spirit. This spirit is conveyed via pointed toes that are easy to slip on; sling-backs and neo babouches, created in both graphic and pure styles to highlight the line, or, integrating hand-made embellishments, both traditional and “artsy”. In this collection, one finds an homage to the Japanese designer, Tokio Kumgagai, who inspired each piece conceived by the designer, who creates chromed and lacquered heels in the soothing colours of the season. A palette of grey and green hues collides with black and white contrasts, a sunflower yellow, in patent calfskin or “brush off” calfskin and in beige tones in a “seller” spirit. A collection integrating the traditional codes, adapted in an avant-garde manner, with a resolutely modern allure.
